Cape Town

Cape Town, ecologically positioned in the Cape
Floristic Region, is also a city of socio-economic contrasts. While it is home to
upscale neighbourhoods and a flourishing tourism industry, many of its
inhabitants live in informal settlements or "townships", often with limited access
to basic services. This duality, against the backdrop of its rich Fynbos biome,
makes it a unique study site when investigating the dynamics of urban
biodiversity under socio-economic pressures.
